Winn Parish Industrial Board

The development of a large-scale industrial wood pellet manufacturing facility in Winn Parish, Louisiana represents a significant economic and environmental opportunity for the region. The proposed facility would process approximately 700,000 tons of wood fiber annually and operate 330 days per year at 20 hours per day, producing approximately 1,485 tons of finished wood pellets per day.

This project leverages the abundant timber resources of North Louisiana while supporting the rapidly growing global demand for renewable biomass fuels. Wood pellets are widely used in industrial power plants and heating systems as a carbon-reduced alternative to coal and fossil fuels, and global demand continues to increase as utilities transition to renewable energy portfolios. With strong regional timber availability, an established forestry workforce, and proximity to rail and port infrastructure, Winn Parish is ideally positioned to host a high-capacity pellet manufacturing facility that can supply both domestic and international markets.
